Independence Excavating is honored to be shortlisted for the 2026 World Demolition Awards in the Industrial Demolition category for our work at the Homer City Generation Station.
Once one of the largest coal-fired power plants east of the Mississippi River, the project required large-scale demolition on an aggressive, evolving schedule. In close collaboration with Homer City Redevelopment LLC, our demolition team managed extensive structural demolition and recycling, environmental decommissioning, foundation removal, concrete processing and more—all while adapting to an expanding scope and accelerating key activities ahead of schedule.
This recognition reflects the expertise, collaboration and commitment of our entire team. We’re proud to have our work recognized among the best in the demolition industry worldwide.
